I’ve just returned from a weekend in Swaziland, my second-favorite African country. The main reason for my trip was Bushfire 2012, a huge music and arts festival at Swaziland’s House on Fire. I saw and did a lot of other stuff though — too much for one post.
I’m too tired for even one full-length post at the moment, but I can’t sleep tonight without posting at least a couple of photos from the weekend. Here are three of my favorites.
Winter is the season for bush fires in Southern Africa, which I guess is one of the ways that the Bushfire festival got its name. We spotted this massive bush fire in Mpumalanga province on our way to Swaziland.
One of many beautiful Swazi landscapes that I photographed this weekend. Also featuring fire.
My favorite shot from the REAL Bushfire. Fans show their appreciation for South African performer Jeremy Loops.
Stay tuned for more fire.
I would have loved to attend the festival! When we were there in February, we fell in love with the area, and have been following the preparations for Bushfire Festival. I am so glad you were able to go, and can’t wait to hear more, and see more pictures!! I loved Swaziland, too!
Thanks so much. You will hear more soon!
Looking forward to hearing more – I am so isolated out here that I don’t even hear of these things or of Jeremy Loops so I will be looking up his music too 🙂
I had never heard of Jeremy Loops before either. He’s awesome!
wow those are great shots! i hope you have a good rest!
lekker ….
stunning pics Heather! Can’t wait to see the rest of them. I love Swaziland! Can you put the Jeremy Loops one up on Facebook so I can tag some people in it? What an awesome weekend!
Thanks Meruschka! Photo is posted.
