From the Melville Cat:
As many of you know, I am an Instagrammer as well as a blogger. You can peruse my Instagram photos at @TheMelvilleCat.
This photo, which portrays me relaxing thoughtfully on my bedroom floor, recently appeared on my Instagram feed. Heather shoots all of my photos, with active direction from me.
I also enjoy following the adventures of my fellow felines on Instagram. The feline Instagram community is prolific, perhaps because cats are so obviously photogenic (especially me).
Since you haven’t heard from me for a while on this blog, I thought I would drop in and share with you my five favorite feline Instagrammers (in addition to myself, of course).
1) @LudwigoftheLofts
@LudwigoftheLofts is a Johannesburg native like myself. Not only is Ludwig a beautiful cat — with a snow-white coat, one blue eye, and one green eye — he also has a very entertaining personality.
Ludwig enjoys escaping outside through the window of his loft in pursuit of female love interests, reclining upside-down amidst flowers, and squeaking at flies.
Be sure to watch Ludwig’s Instagram videos as they are particularly inspired.
2) @BadCatPhotos
@BadCatPhotos is perhaps my favorite of all feline Instagram accounts because it fascinates me so. Cats are beautiful (especially myself). How can humans take so many terrible photos of us? It seems impossible and yet it happens, again and again and again.
Bad cat photos. These are only the tip of the iceberg. (By the way, the photo above is not me although I do realize there is a resemblance.)
The photos on this account are extremely poor. Yet I can’t help looking at them and hitting the “like” button with my paw.
I am enraged by the fact that Heather has shared images of me on @BadCatPhotos in the past. Without my permission, of course.
You are welcome to share your own bad cat photos by using the hashtag #badcatphotos on Instagram. Perhaps they will be featured on @BadCatPhotos. Although I don’t understand why you would.
3) @PonKitties
@PonKitties is managed by Heather’s friend @garethpon, who used to live in Johannesburg but now lives faraway in a place called Chicago with his two black-and-white felines, Titan and Atlas.
I don’t know if this is Titan or Atlas.
Titan and Atlas are very photogenic and they are lucky to have such a talented photographer as their human.
4) @MyCatDennis
@MyCatDennis lives in another faraway place, called Nashville. Dennis is an exotic shorthair (although he appears quite fluffy to me) and has very distinguished amber-brown eyes.
Dennis often appears in strange disguises on his Instagram feed. I have mixed feelings about this, as I myself would never allow Heather to dress me in a costume. But perhaps Dennis enjoys dressing up. If so, who am I to judge?
Dennis, if you read this post, please let me know if you actually like these disguises and if so, why.
5) @GuysWithCats
@GuysWithCats…Personally, I don’t get it. Male humans and cats, posing for photos together — who cares? I actually would not have chosen to include this account in the list but Heather insisted.
A guy with a hairless cat. Even more perplexing.
Heather says Guys with Cats are “sexy”. I don’t even know what “sexy” means. Heather tried to explain but she failed miserably. Whatever, I will take her word for it and indulge her choice just this once.
Thus concludes my list. I am always looking for new feline accounts to follow so if you have any suggestions I’ll be eager to hear them. Also, please follow @theMelvilleCat if you have not done so already. (That would be weird if you haven’t.) Thank you.
Bad cat photos and Guys with cats look very entertaining. Thanks for the heads up. Some day perhaps our latest Boss Cat will create her own account, too. She has a potty mouth, though.
I would like to follow that account.
Hahahhaa. Bad cat photos. Love it. My friends always post pics of their cats, plus I follow a Thailand IG-er who posts the most adorable pics of their cat and dog together. But did you know that the first photo uploaded on IG was of a dog!
I didn’t know that, but I am not surprised. Heather’s first Instagram photo was of me ????
Oh and I didn’t get a mention – Minks https://jeromes1day.blogspot.co.za/2018/05/my-favourite-things.html
Oh dear, I’m very sorry Minks! Are you on Instagram?
Sometime I gets on my mom’s instagram but it is my human’s blog that I have most access to, just like you.
