Bonus COVID-19 Post: How to Help

by | Apr 19, 2020 | COVID-19, Johannesburg | 6 comments

A thoughtful reader suggested I create a single post listing all the “Today’s Worthy Cause” suggestions I’ve been featuring in my Lockdown Journal posts. This is a great idea and I’m disappointed I didn’t think of it myself.

Spaza Shop Challenge
Beneficiaries of the African Accents #SpazaShopChallenge in Katlehong.

Below is the list of organizations/causes, with a link to either a donation page or the blog post in which I discussed the cause. Scroll to the bottom of the blog post to read about the cause.

I’ll update this page as I go along.

That is so serendiptious! I was thinking of compiling a list of all the good causes you have mentioned and posting it to my FB page. Thank you for doing this!

    Dear Heather,
Thank you so much for your Lock-down Journal posts, we are looking forward to your new post every evening. It is helping us to keep in touch with South Africa and knowing what is happening in Joburg now we are stranded in the Netherlands and don’t know when it would be possible to come back.
I really feel that you should add 2Summers to the list of good causes, you are doing so much to encourage everybody during this difficult time and to promote the good causes. You also need funding to continue with your ‘Small SA town project’, once it is possible to travel again. We need people like you, you contribute(d) so much to the tourism industry, which always provided so many jobs and is hopefully going to recover. We know that your income is from corporate jobs that you lost completely and that you cannot survive on writing blogs. I hope that many of your followers agree with this idea because I understand that it is difficult to ask money for yourself.
    All the best,
Marcelle – Madi a Thavha mountain lodge and Madi a Thavha CraftArt Centre at Victoria Yards
