On Friday morning I got up at the crack of dawn to meet, drive with, and balloon with South Africa's first Black woman balloon pilot.

Thorsten and I recently stumbled upon King Arabic Sandwich -- a Palestinian restaurant that used to be in Mayfair -- in Roodepoort.

Thorten and I went hiking in Kloodendal Nature Reserve. It was my first time there in 11 years, and we saw hundreds of king proteas in bloom.

Last month Thorsten and I went for dinner at the Burger Box Roadhouse in Krugersdorp. True to its name, the burgers were delicious.

Thorsten and I journeyed to Uncle Harry's Roadhouse in Randfontein, where I ordered and ate an insanely enormous burger.

Today I finally obeyed the internal voice commanding me to drive to Randfontein and buy a new Basotho blanket. I am so glad I did.

On Saturday I went to take photos at Villa Gloria, a halfway house providing accomodation for under-priveleged people in Krugersdorp.
