Last week, I did something that I don't do nearly as often as I should. I went traveling on my own, driving up to Venda to visit my friend Lucky and his family.

I visited Pafuri Camp in the Makuleke Contractual Park, and experienced the area's beauty while also learning the history of the Makuleke's forced removals.

I spent three days at the Return Africa lodge in the Pafuri Triangle, a corner of the northern Kruger populated by giant elephants and and baobab trees.
